After the catastrophic earthquake in 1963, Skopje became a global demonstration city of the future. UN hired international experts to participate in its reconstruction, the central figure being the Japanese avant-garde architect Kenzo Tange who designed the new center using the principles of metabolism – its first application outside of Japan. Fifty years later, Macedonia seeks its identity through faux Baroque and monumental memorials.


ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
Saša Ban was born in Zagreb in 1978. He holds a degree in Comparative Literature and Philosophy from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb, as well as a degree in Film and TV Directing from the Academy of Dramatic Arts. He makes documentary programs for Croatian Radiotelevision, commercial films, short feature films, and documentaries which have been shown at film festivals in Croatia and abroad.
